Message from our President and CEO Dr. Ahmad R. DJangi

Dr. Ahmad DJangi, President and CEO of the Bobby E. Wright Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center in Chicago

It is an honor to be entrusted with the role of President and CEO of Bobby E. Wright Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center, Inc. (BEW) and lead a phenomenal team within this great organization in serving the West Side of Chicago.

Dr. Bobby E. Wright more than spoke on issues impacting and perpetuating inequality within our African/Black American people seeking opportunities and fair treatment.  He grew BEW through times of segregation, disparity, and integration within the communities of Chicago’s West Side.  He saw providing appropriate supportive mental health services as vital to the West Side by addressing challenges such as those of historical trauma, generational trauma, systemic lack of opportunities, violence, and substance abuse.  His legacy and vision live through all of us who are committed to improving resources focused on the well-being of our West Side community members.

As President/CEO, my vision aligns with that of Dr. Wright’s mission, to improve the quality of life for Chicago’s West Side residents through an array of social services which include mental health and substance abuse treatment.  BEW aims to provide equitable, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based services. Through unity, our passion, dedication, commitment, and love in our work will guide us forward in achieving our goals and reaching our mission.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said:

“If you can’t fly, then run; if you can’t run, then walk; if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”

No matter the obstacles and issues, we will face them together and continue moving forward.

Ahmad R. DJangi, MS, PsyD
